I chose to begin
this huge task of "The FLEA" by working on the smaller Flea
Circus props, Lots of cutting, painting and small parts that
only a Flea could really enjoy!
The stack of
Canon Balls were simple but really fun to make. The
Canons?....well, let's just say...not as easy :) |

The Canons are
near complete with the exception of the rear end-caps which
will need drilled, tapped for the set screw and then into
the paint booth.
You can see
below the Red Footing for the Flagpoles, Ladders etc. Each
tiny vinyl star is hand applied by the lovely
Shelley....after a few hours of this she doesn't smile quite
as much :( |

The Houlettes
are near complete with only a few set screws to the back and
they are ready to wrapped for packing.
I changed the
color scheme to Black and Gold as compared to the
proto-type. The original Red/Gold scheme blended into the
background to much. Now I have a much better contrast giving
more visibility. |

I am assembling
the Low RPM Motors into the custom machined brackets.
Loctite thread glue is used on any metal to metal bolt
application to avoid bolts loosening due to vibration etc.
The metal thread
spools, on the right, will be installed after this process. |

See how happy I
am to be applying over 225 custom brackets onto the
Solenoids?!! I am attaching the push rod limiters at this
point and am very close to wrapping up the Solenoid
preparation. These are the "Engines" behind all the
animations. I chose to purchase the HIGHEST quality
Solenoids available to avoid future headaches for you and
me! |

Here I am in the
CNC Router room holding down a few smaller parts as my CNC
(named "Gwendolyn") cuts out the upper decks and Signs, She
is the BEST employee a guy could ever ask for. No coffee
breaks, no sick days...and no talking back when I KNOW I am
wrong :) |

Gwendolyn hard
at work machining the Underdecks which all the electronics
and wiring will be mounted to. |

Shelley works on
the cases prepping them for modification. |
|
|
 |
The Magnifying
Glasses are machined as two halves then the edges are
softened on the Router. (as shown)
Next,
comes the assembly. |
|
 |
The Cases are
now ready to be modified so the FLEA can do his MAGIC!
yup...that's a lot of cases! |
 |
The electronic
components are installed. This is just the beginning of a
complex wiring process. More pics will follow showing the
entire system.
Yup...I have no
problems letting folks inside my shop to see the actual
workings. It may inspire some young creator to walk down the
path I have followed by the late greats.
Long live
MAGIC and CREATION! |

Close up of the
components...and my gray hair :)

MORE PICS TO COME!! |
